Frequently Asked Questions

Following are the most frequently asked questions we have received.

If you have any other questions, please do not hestitate to contact us.

Where can I find a Trainer?

The Trainer database is organised into geographical areas and if you click on the button for your area on the home page it will display all of the authorised training organisations in your chosen area. Many are willing to travel all over the country to deliver the training, some have delivered courses overseas.

What will a Course Cost?

The scheme rules prevent price fixing but there is a RIGID maximum course size of 16 and the course length and content are fixed.
Each Provider is free to set what they believe is a market price for a course. Some Providers prefer to calculate a 'price per person' and some a 'price per course'.
Shopping around is encouraged.

How do I Complain?

Your first complaint should be made to the Course Provider. If you are not satisfied with the answer you may complain to the Safety Trainers' Forum secretary and he will investigate on your behalf. You may email him at info@fecosafety.com or contact him on 01254 695111.

What do I do if a Passport is lost?

Report it at once to the Training Provider who issued it to you. For a small fee, and after a security check, they will issue a replacement passport (valid until the same date as the one you lost).
If you feel it was stolen so that someone else could use it please let the Training Provider know of your suspicions.

How widespread is the CCNSG Scheme?

The scheme was adopted nationally on a 'site by site' basis throughout most of the Petrochemical, Power and Steel Industries. It is now usually required throughout the Paper Industry and has started to be asked for by some Offshore Oil companies, some Motor Manufacturers and many smaller Clients across the whole of the 'non-domestic' construction industry.

There are over 180, 000 Nationally Accredited Safety Passport Holders on the database and over 50, 000 are trained or retrained each year. It is far and away the biggest such scheme.

Is it equivalent to a CSCS Card?

NO. The CSCS Card is a Construction Skills Qualification for tradesmen in the Construction Industry. It is a 'Trade Card'.

The Nationally Accredited Safety Passport shows only that you have been trained to work safely.

The CSCS card does not require that you undergo training in health and safety but requires you to pass a 'health and safety test'.
